for the
call of our next bishop
Loving Creator, you call
us together and you send us forth to be your witnesses in all places. We
ask you now to lead us, accompany us, and direct us as we seek the person
who is to be our next Bishop. Grant us perception, faithfulness and joy
that we may hear your still small voice. And then, give us the courage to
follow as you lead us along the way. In the name of Christ Jesus who is
the shepherd and bishop of our souls.
AMEN

As our diocese
discerns whom God is calling to be our next bishop, we invite you into a
mutual reflection about our future. The Diocese of New Hampshire
celebrates its bicentennial in 2002. Even if we were not seeking a
successor to Douglas E. Theuner we would likely reflect on what we have
accomplished in two hundred years and how our diocese has grown and
changed. As we move into a third century, our understanding of the past
informs a unique vision for the future—one grounded in Christian faith,
striving toward the Kingdom of God, and, in the words of our incumbent
bishop, working to make the “Gospel alive and vibrant.”
