LOCATION: West Street Ward House, 41 West Street, Concord, NH
KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Professor John Elder
John Elder teaches English and Environmental Studies at Middlebury College
and is the author of numerous books and articles on the cultural, aesthetic,
and ethical implications of living in place. He is the recipient of grants
from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Fulbright Fellowship
Program, and, most recently, the Guggenheim Foundation. In addition to his
teaching and writing, he operates a sugarbush with his family in the hills
above Starksboro, Vermont. John's current book-project, which he'll read and
discuss for us, focuses on the relationship between Mardi Gras and climate
change.
He and his family have a sugaring operation in the hills above Starksboro,
Vt. Elder received his B.A. from Pomona College and his Ph.D. from Yale
University.
The meeting will end in time for you to return home and watch election
results from Super Duper Tuesday.
