Today, the global community recognizes World Malaria Day. But here at Episcopal Relief & Development, we already know the sobering statistics that force us to recognize malaria’s impact. In fact, we have 3,000 daily reminders that malaria is one of the deadliest diseases in the world.
The spread of malaria can be stopped -- but not without your help.
Your support today will enable us to distribute long-lasting insecticide-treated nets that protect people from the malaria-carrying Anopheles mosquitoes. If applied universally, the nets could save the lives of well over 200,000 children a year in Africa.
In virtually no other area of disease prevention can such a small investment in such a simple solution save so many lives.
Episcopal Relief & Development is a proud partner of NetsforLife®, which teams up individual, foundation and corporate sponsors with organizations on the ground to prevent malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Through NetsforLife® we’ve distributed nearly a million treated nets to people vulnerable to the disease. But our work doesn’t stop there. The program’s network of community health workers is training people on how to properly use the nets and to control mosquito populations. We are also teaching them how to identify symptoms because early treatment and diagnosis are critical to increasing survival rates.
I hope you’ll become part of our groundbreaking efforts to prevent and treat this disease by making a contribution to the Malaria Fund today. Working together, we can wipe out the spread of malaria.
