Church bells will chime for miles around on Sunday morning June 19th at 11:45 AM.
As part of a community wide remembrance, church bells throughout Portsmouth will toll 50 times – one time for each person who perished in mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando. At the same time Temple Israel will be sounding 50 shofar blasts on the steps of Portsmouth's historic Temple.
The Ministerium - Seacoast Interfaith Clergy Association has asked their constituent clergy to incorporate "A Prayer for The Human Family" (Please see text below) in their worship this weekend.
A Prayer for The Human Family
Adapted from the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer
Let us pray. O God, you made us in your own image. Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne;
And let us say Amen.
