The Episcopal Church’s General Convention is held every three years to consider the legislative business of the church.
Episcopal Church of NH Deputies to General Convention 2027
Deputies to General Convention 2027 will be elected during the 223rd Annual Diocesan Convention on Saturday, November 1, 2025, and listed here after the election. Read about the nominees here.
General Convention is the bicameral governing body of the church, comprised of the House of Bishops, with upwards of 200 active and retired bishops, and the House of Deputies, with clergy and lay deputies elected from the 109 dioceses and three regional areas of the church, at more than 800 members. Between conventions, the General Convention continues to work through its committees and commissions. The Executive Council of the Episcopal Church carries out the programs and policies adopted by General Convention.
At the annual session of Convention prior to the year preceding the year in which the General Convention is to meet, Convention elects clergy persons and lay persons to serve as deputies and alternate deputies to General Convention. The clerical deputies shall be priests or deacons canonically resident in this diocese, and the lay deputies shall be adult confirmed communicants of a congregation in this diocese. No fewer than eight clergy persons and eight lay persons shall be nominated. Elected nominees shall be seated in order of the number of votes received, with the four highest named as deputies, and the next four as alternates. Deputies and alternate deputies shall be elected to three-year terms and may be elected to successive terms.

REQUIRED NOTICE: PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH CONSTITUTION AND COMMON BOOK OF PRAYER MADE AT THE 81st GENERAL CONVENTION
It is a requirement of Canon I.1.1.e that you receive notice whenever any alteration of the Book of Common Prayer or of the Constitution is proposed. The 81st General Convention proposed three resolutions with changes to the Constitution and one to the Book of Common Prayer. It is our duty to make known such proposed alterations to the Convention of the Diocese and to certify that such action has been taken.
